I was back at B9 St Andrew's At Knightshead Park this week or just BCFC, Birmingham City Football Club. Too many names, for one ground, new sponsors and a terrible new kit, that looks like you've just finished shift at the local bookies, had your tea (dinner) and not had time to change before heading out to watch the match.
Friday night was a friendly against FC Barcelona and a lot of people moaned they were just putting out their B team, it was a fairly impressive line up.
I've got my season ticket this year and I'll be seated along the goal line on the left of this photo near the tunnel, for the this game I was 4 rows from the front and 6 seats to the right. it was difficult to see down the line.
I always get to the ground at lease 90 mins before kick off and I will often read, talk to people, get coffee and have my picnic tea.

Draw after 90 mins and we won 3-2 after sudden death penalties.
The 1875 bus was held up in traffic with 28,000 plus attendance and it was a full on run for the train home home and with 2 platform changes within minutes of getting to the station it was touch and go, but I made it. There was the last train half an hour later at 11pm, but I'd rather not be hanging around the station on my own. It would be quicker to walk/run but not safe at that time of night, in fact it's often not safe in broad daylight if I'm being honest.

I had a feeling you would be there. I live way on the other side of the city but my first boyfriend, who became my first husband, lived not far from the Bham city ground. I remember how crowded it used to get on match days. I'm glad you've got your season ticket.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, the strip isn't good but Newcastle's isn't much better either. It looks like a barcode! lol I am looking forward to the new football season! That's great you have your season ticket, I will be looking out for you on the TV. hehehe It sounds like you had a great time at the match, the little car delivering the ball always makes me chuckle, good job to them on the win and making the train home!
ReplyDeleteGlad you got your season ticket and that Birmingham won. Getting to your seat early and having time to settle in, chat to people, read, have coffee and a picnic sounds like a very good plan. #WotW
