Technically this was last weeks Word of the Week, but as I was still in Dubai at the start of the week and it's such a 'Dubai' thing to do, there's no harm sharing it now.
We used to do brunches quite often when we lived here. For Christmas Day (took my mum on the QEII, which is moored here) when visitors came, for birthdays, with friends and just because.
My favourite Brunch is the Wanderlust at the JW Marriot Marquis on the Sheik Zayed Road.
I love their Wall of donuts (although it has got smaller) even though I can't eat them with having a wheat allergy.
Brunch was AED 299 for women and AED 349 for men. Yes the assumption is men eat and drink more.
Alcohol was included in that price and there were drinks stations of vodka, rum, tequila cocktails, prosecco, wine and beer you could just help yourself to.
Previous you bought drink packages on top of the food price and you wear wristbands to show you've paid.
At £60/£70 for all you can eat and drink between 1-4pm in Dubai is a very good price.
This is the dessert section. So much choice and no limit to what you can eat or in what order.
Brunch used to be more expensive, we've paid over £150 per person in the past. Brunch is very similar, it's often just the location that pushes the price up.
Weekends have changed here in Dubai and Brunch was the 'Friday thing' to do and Saturdays were spent in recovery. Weekends are now Saturday and Sunday and it seems that Brunch isn't as popular or as expensive at it used to be.
The atmosphere was great, I selected a child free brunch.
This is what I ate and drunk, you tell me if you think it was worth it?
The food looks so fresh and delicious, I don't think I could have restrained myself in the dessert section. I have a very sweet tooth.
ReplyDeleteI think you got a good deal with the drinks included as well.
I enjoyed a dessert in-between courses
DeleteYUM! Everything looks so fresh and so beautifully displayed! What a fun meal!
ReplyDeleteit was all really yummy
DeleteFab post. Yes, the brunch seems a lot and sound fun too! I know the feeling of taking the photo of the main, lol. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeletethe mains are never the fun part are they?
DeleteI do love a good brunch. The food looks very enticing and beautifully presented.
ReplyDeletecan't beat a Dubai brunch in my opinion
DeleteWOW how cool does all that look!! My kids would devour than donut wall!
ReplyDeleteIn the past I've had a good go lol
DeleteOh wow! I love the sound of brunches in Dubai! £60/£70 is a decent price considering here places charge about £40 for just an hour and a half of unlimited drinks and a meal. I would happily go just for the desserts!
ReplyDeleteI always resent spending £40 in the UK, it's never the same
DeleteIt seems expensive but we've spent more here in Birmingham and that wasn't all you can eat. The food looks lovely and so fresh and healthy. The sweet selection is amazing. It's funny how they charge more for men, my eldest son has a bottomless stomach so he'd get his fair share for sure. I hope you enjoyed your trip.
ReplyDeleteWe've paid more for a uk meal and it's been no where near as good and I've resented it
DeleteThat wall of doughnuts looks good. Interesting that there are different prices for brunch for men and women. The dessert selection looks amazing and the brunch does sound like a good price for all the choice you get. #WotW
ReplyDeleteyou do get value for money and the location and views are stunning
