Week 32 - Project 365

Sometimes the daily prompts reflect what I actually do during the day, other times it's a fact finding mission to actually link the two prompts together and on Monday I did just that with a photo of a drawing. Most of the time though the photos I publish have little to do with what is actually going on in my life. For example my 16 yo son is here and not one of the photo prompts will tell you that story.

Although I will do Project 365 next year, I'll probably only join in with the photo prompts if something really grabs my attention. I'm not here to set records for longevity and be posting every day for 5 years, there's no prize at the end.

So what has gone on in my week since we last talked?

Well I've bought my 4 year old niece her 'first day at school' christmas, birthday and easter presents, as after my trip to the UK in September I won't be back there again until next June. Can't disclose too much as her mum reads my blog, but her xmas gift is pink and sparkly.

Sunday. Hubby was back at work, I fluffed around making the newly hung curtains look absolutely fabulous, caught the bus to Park n Shop, had a coffee at Shakespeare and Co, then walked the 1km to Tesco, bought a new suitcase, got a taxi home. Out for dinner to Reem Al Bawadi.

Monday. Coffee Morning at Arabian Ranches with the expat ladies, bought new curtains for the lounge. We went to the beach for a picnic for dinner and a swim and the teen had a KFC on the way home.

Tuesday. Blogging all day, cleaning, hoovering, ironing, wow this running a linky is hard going. Pop over to #TimeTraveller and take a look. We had hot dogs for dinner, the teen was in bed all day, he's become nocturnal, but he does walk the dog in the evenings.

Wednesday. After a morning of tidying up my mess from hanging and adjusting the new curtains, I caught the bus and train to Ibn Buttuta, where I completed my UK shopping for birthday and Christmas presents. Hubby collected me from the train and we had roast beef with yorkshire puds for dinner.

Thursday. Coffee morning was cancelled so I spent the morning in the garden before the sun came round, experimenting with growing conditions for different seeds. Around midday I walked to Starbucks, did a bit of shopping, hubby collected me and we went to a colleagues house to collect his and hers bikes, that they no longer used/wanted.

Friday. Off into the desert early morning with the teen and Bob of course. I have caught a nasty cough and cold and feel a bit flu like, feeling better in the afternoon we headed off to Ikea, didn't buy anything or even have a row, but after the 'psychopath' incident a few months back, we were both on our best behaviour. Hubby cooked a lasagna for dinner, I did some sewing and we had an early night.

Saturday. In bed all morning with a nasty cough and cold, popped out to buy water and have a coffee. The afternoon was spent watching the start of the football season together.

Day 217 #onedailypositive #SomethingPurple #fmsphotoaday #Stranger #snaphappybritmums #project365 #50DaysOfSummer I'm no stranger in the Hello Kitty store in Dubai

Day 218 #onedailypositive #WhatIWishFor #fmsphotoaday #Boat #snaphappybritmums #project365 #50DaysOfSummer Is to get out and about and enjoy life....oh and cakes and biscuits

Day 219 #onedailypositive #Quirky #fmsphotoaday #SomethingBlue #snaphappybritmums #project365 #50DaysOfSummer every villa in the street has a blue plaque with their house number. According to our rental agreement we are living in Villa 41 ***** St. The municipality have us as No 5 **a St. The GPS can't find us at either address, google earth has a different name for our St. And the taxi drivers are directed to the big Spinneys on Al Wasl Road and we guide them in from there.

Day 220 #onedailypositive #door #fmsphotoaday #money #snaphappybritmums #project365 #50DaysOfSummer Dubai is the only place in the world where you would buy and fit draft excluders to keep the heat out and the cold in, every time a door is opened, money just floats down the street in the form of wasted electricity.

Week 30 - Project 365

I've reached the conclusion that I don't need to 'get out more' as Kay Burley told me in response to one of my many rants at Sky TV. I don't need to find more things to do and I don't need any more coffees.

What I do need is a purpose and fast. I'm bored, I'm not being challenged as much. I'm loving my free time, reading books, watching youtube, sewing, gardening, blogging, walking the dog, exploring new places, but I'm not being challenged and my brain isn't being stretched.

I started off this week googling 'what are the symptoms of legionnaires disease?' and 'how long after an insect bite in Canada can I expect to become ill?' Why? I've been so tired, I'm sleeping 7 hours a night and then I'm sleeping 6 hours in the day. It's too hot to go out for a walk or explore further a field and I've become stuck in this little routine of nothingness. My muscles are aching from inactivity, my eyes actually hurt and in general I feel like I've got the flu.

I had a busy and exciting 3 weeks in Canada and upon my return to the desert heat hubby left for the UK for over a week.

Sunday. I did some sewing, the ironing and washed the dogs bed and blankets and eventually I managed to go out at 6pm for a coffee then I washed and walked the dog and went straight back to bed. Apart from the cake I had in Starbucks I'm not even sure if I ate that day.

Monday. Having found no links with my symptoms and google, I decided I should keep a food diary just to make sure I was eating. I had porridge for breakfast and for a snack had strawberries and a health bar. I drank my 2 litres of liquid by 11am and after some more sewing (I'm finally repairing cushion covers, clothes etc) I had a sleep and a trip to a mall a bit further a field to discover they had a circus show for Eid. I decided to stay out for an early dinner before walking the dog and attempting to stay up late.

Tuesday. Hubby arrived home at 1am and I'm sure my sleep will now be messed up further. The day was a write off.

Wednesday. I and to go to meet HR to sort out paperwork for the 16yos residency application, it seems no one is able to tell me what I need as there never was a court order when I divorced his father.

Thursday. First coffee morning since Ramadan, it was lovely to catch up with the expat ladies group, I stopped off on the way home to food shop and managed to stay awake all day, although it didn't make me feel any better. Hubby was on conference calls till 10pm.

Friday. I didn't feel like it, but we got up early and took Bob into the desert for a play in the lakes, I packed the camping stove and we enjoyed a little picnic breakfast while Bob splashed around in the water. We found a dog friendly cafe near the beach in the afternoon and went back to the beach in the evening for a swim.

Saturday. Another lazy day, although I spent the morning sorting out paperwork for our son's residency application, yes it's been 7 months and it's still not sorted.....grrrrrrr We found another new cafe to visit for a spot of lunch and in the evening it was back to the beach for a picnic dinner.

Day 200 #onedailypositive #sign #fmsphotoaday #RoadTrip #snaphappybritmums #project365 #50DayofSummer

There's nothing better than a road trip around South Africa to see some amazing signs. This has to be one of the few signs that didn't actually make me laugh when I saw it. Taken in St Lucia in KZN, North of Durban in 2014. There are no fences between you and the wildlife, the hippos wander up into the town at night, the crocodiles are just there, as in close enough to look at without binoculars. So it worried me greatly to see this small child running around while his parents were at least 100ms away on the waters edge watching the hippos.

In the absence of rain in Dubai there is a lot of artificial grass, however I'm at a loss as to why it's been laid like this.

Blast if I'd bloom(ing) known these photo prompts 2 weeks ago I'd have bought the flowery beach bag rather than the flamingo one

There's love and devotion for you, hubby collecting wet sand in the bucket so I could build a sandcastle for today's photo prompt.
