Word of the Week - Battery

We bought a new car on Saturday, it's a hybrid, it needs charging and we don't have a charging point fitted at home yet (one has been ordered)

In our quest to charge the car, we've ended up with so many apps for different places around the town.

We've got 2 charging points in work so all I have to do is book a slot, then email whoever is in the space to remind them move their vehicle before lunch so I can fetch the car from the car park and plug in.

We also investigated the local supermarket where we took the car on Wednesday for a charge. I went onto work and Peter went for a walk and a coffee.

We also own a camper van and we have to keep a close eye on the leisure battery and make sure we charge it once a month.

We're obsessed with the battery life of both the vehicles, checking them daily, reporting in to one another and ensuring we haven't accidentally knocked a light switch on in the van (me) or forgotten to switch the fridge off after a food shop (Peter).

We were warned once we owned a campervan and an electric vehicle we would become obsessed with the batteries, we just didn't realise how much.

  1. Oh yes. It is an obsession. Until we had our home charger for our car, finding a charger took time out of our day. Plus all the different apps. Much easier now, although long journeys can be a challenging, especially is you find out chargers are out of service even when they are shown as working. Not forgetting the ones that are private company owned. An obsession is a good word for it. #wotw

  2. We don't have this but we are a little obsessed with our solar systems battery - so kinda the same thing.

  3. It sounds like when you have small children and keep having to check up on them, that made me chuckle. Who knew you could become obsessed by batteries, it does make sense as you would hate to run out half way down the road.

  4. The new car looks fab but what a pain having to have to find somewhere else to charge it for now. I think I would become obsessed with batteries too if I had to deal with a car and camper van that need to keep charged. x

  5. I'm dreading having to change to an electric car. I'm hoping I can get a hybrid at least. We don't have a drive so we will have to get permission to have the charger over the pavement ( I think they do covers) As for finding somewhere to charge...I can't even put petrol in at them moment so it's one more thing for me to stress about. I think I will be obsessed too when the time comes.

  6. I can imagine how you'd become obsessed over battery life with the campervan and the car and knowing where the local charging points are. Hope it won't be too long before your charging point arrives to make it all a bit easier. #WotW
