'Oh I couldn't go to Australia with all the snakes and the spiders'
I'm sure they're there somewhere, but I've only seen two snakes. A diamond python sunbathing in a tree over a walk way in Manly, just outside Sydney and a mildly venomous collared whipped snake in Cairns. I saw them on my last visit in 2023.
This visit other than a trip to Tasmania, we didn't venture outside of Sydney and the local coastal area. It also poured with rain for most of the visit and spring was late this year so we didn't see as much wildlife as we've done previously.
I did however take a trip to the Aquarium and the Wildlife Park in Darling Harbour as I wanted to see the Koala's.
I love how obliging this wallaby was lining up under his sign so I didn't miss him. Sadly several of his friends/family had been hit by cars in the neighbourhood in Tasmania.
Black Crab.
I hadn't seen the wallaby until you mentioned him : ) He has a color that makes him blend in. How sad his family got killed by cars!
ReplyDeleteI didn't see hime at first either
DeleteThere is so much more to Australia than snakes and spiders. That wallaby was very obliging with the photo. hehehe I have heard how vicious the magpies can be. Eek but I have never heard of Beach Turkeys before.
ReplyDeletethose magpies were savage
DeleteOh fabulous creatures. I remember we saw some Rainbow Lorikeets in Cornwall, They were caged but allowed to fly free inside and it was huge and beautiful. Only a handful of people were allowed to enter at any time and the birds were very friendly. My kids loved it. It would be lovely to see all these creatures out in the wild and although I'm not a fan of spiders I really don't mind snakes.
ReplyDeleteI kept thinking the parrots and lorikeets had escaped until I kept seeing them absolutly everywhere
DeleteThe wildlife in Oz is well, wild - I remember when a friend moved there years ago and went to the zoo to learn about her new environment.
ReplyDeleteI visited a wildlife park, it's amazing just what does live amongst 'you' in Australia
DeleteLovely photos #pocolo
ReplyDeleteBeautiful images!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful variety of wildlife, particularly birds! #pocolo
ReplyDeletethe birds had my 100% attention
DeleteOh my, that wallaby sitting for his picture. How sad for his family. I had no idea of the lovely birds there though. Their just stunning. Except the magpie, I didn't realize they were so mean.
