It's been a week of Macbeth cramming in tutoring ahead of the GCSE English exam next week. 4 lessons in a row on Thursday, my head is going to explode. Mixed in some Christmas Carol and Lord of the Flies quotes and a couple of unseen poems and a practice paper with Language. I'm also tutoring year 10 in English and year 10, 9 & 8 in maths and helping a group of year 7 catching up with missed lessons.
I received my annual official 'your contract ends in August and at the moment there are no further job opportunities for you in September' letter. I've informed HR that I'll be in Australia the first 3 weeks of September. If there's a job for me, that's great, if not, then I'll just look else where. I'll be sad to leave, I was hoping for at least one more year, to see my year 7's through to the end of their GCSE's in May/June 2026. I'm tempted to apply for a job in Dubai - watch this space.
Day 118
Back to school, the usual eventful day for me. Met Peter in town for a coffee, then home for a BBQ and evening spent reading in the garden. Finished my book and started this one. Video call with grandson, bath and a bit of tidying up to be done in my craft room
Day 119
A lie in then off to Neurology. He took one look at my migraine chart and prescribed a new daily preventative which I had to collect from the pharmacy in Worcester. Got into work at 11am, busy the rest of the day with students. Straight home, spent some time in the garden reading. Peter made tea. Video calls with the grandchildren. I was in bed by 8.30pm, really not feeling well, migraine (need I say more?)
Day 120
Awake at 4am after falling fully asleep at 11pm. Sat and read, did some blogging and drank tea. Into work, a full day with students and planning. Came home by 4pm and spent time in my craft room. I popped out for a coffee with a friend then home for dinner, transferred some seedlings. We watched Birmingham on the TV, I sat in the garden, then off to bed.
Day 121
Loving this weather at the moment and making the most of it. Peter met me down the retail park after work for a coffee, we popped into the supermarket to get dinner. Home and pottered around the garden. I finished my packing for the weekend and put the outdoor cushions and table decorations away and watered the plants, shut the green house and put the cloches back on the raised beds. Within a few minutes we had torrential rain and a thunder storm.
Day 122
Home from work, quick change and Peter drove me to Birmingham for my flight to Belfast. I arrived with 4 hours to spare and spent the time, drinking coffee, blogging and reading and just chilling out. The traffic on the way up was heavy and there was a new junction and roadworks with the HS2 under construction. I'd rather be here, early than rushing. Arrived in Belfast 11pm ish. Son picked me up from the airport, straight to bed.
Day 123
A busy day baking cakes, bike ride (wheel fell off) food shopping, trip to the park, lots of cuddles and lots of stories read. Meeting my new grandson
Day 124
A lie in, bike fixed, stuff put in attic and discovered ball cocks need replacing in water tanks, a job for FIL. Washing on and out on the line. Video calls to meet Uncle Jamie in Australia and cousins in England. A squash in the car between the two car seats to get to the outlaws for Sunday lunch. Bedtime reading lined up and an early night.
Things to make you smile:
It appears I can't do simple sums. I posted a picture of Stephanie on Instagram from 2005 and captured it '15 years ago'
Confusing my Macbeth 'head on a stick' with a dead pig from Lord of the Flies.
Grandson was delaying going to sleep after 8 books and an attempt to speak to his cousin on a video call he said 'can we have a proper chat granny'
