I'm in Northern Ireland visiting my Son, DIL and two grandsons for the week.
They're moving house and I'm here along with the outlaws helping out with lifting, moving, cleaning and childcare.
It's been a little tense at times with 5 adults trying to make decisions and the occasional fighting over who is getting the grandchildren hugs lol.
I've been sleeping in my campervan on my son's drive for the first part of the week and for the rest of the week I'm on the outlaws drive.
I've moved a lot and I mean A LOT.
As a child I'd lived in 4 houses in 4 different parts of the UK by the time I was 10.
Between the ages of 17 and 24 I lived in 4 different places within a 50 mile radius of home.
Since then I've had three homes in the UK and two in South Africa and two in Dubai, plus we've had temporary accommodation in between our international relocations, plus long hotel stays.
The longest I've ever lived in one house is 8 years, our current home, which we're back in for then second time and we've been here now for almost 6 years.
They're in a chain and today is the day we wait for the call to collect the keys. The van is being loaded the house is being cleaned and we'll be done by midday and then hanging around waiting for the call as the money is transfered down the line.

It sounds like a really busy week. I hope the move for your son and his family have gone well.
ReplyDeleteI hope the move went smoothly for them. It's such a stressful thing to do especially with kids so it's good you were there to help out.
ReplyDeleteYou certainly have done a lot of moving! I bet you have a lot of intersting stories to tell about the process.
How lucky is your son to have so much support! I havent moved much - in fact in my whole life I have moved I have moved a total of 7 times! But David is like you, he also moved a lot until we met.
ReplyDeleteaww I love that last picture of your grandbaby in a box. I HATE moving, My mum moved 4 times when I was living with her but I never really had to do much apart from help with cleaning. Then I moved into my flat with my new husband and then we moved to a house, which I lived in for TWENTY FOUR YEARS! moving was awful, I hated it but it seemed like that we'd lived in that house forever, then I realise we have lived her for nearly 14 years now. I always say, my next move is into an old person's home. (That's if I don't get my dream bungalow by the sea)
ReplyDeleteI love that last photo of your grandson in the cardboard box. I hope that all went well with the move. It's such a stressful process but good that you've been able to offer extra support with it all. I moved several times between student houses and when I first moved to the area where we currently live, but lived in the same house for most of my childhood and we've been in our current house for 15 years. #WotW
