Week 22 2025 - One Daily Positive and Project 365. A week with the grandchildren.

I've had a fantastic week in Northern Ireland with child no 4, his wife and their 2 children.

My 2nd visit to see the newest addition to the family. There were lots of cuddles, hugs and nappy changes.

Eldest grandson 3 1/2 was really concerned about me going home on the ferry on my own 'it's too far granny, daddy go with you, you can go back on the airplane, I want to come with you granny'

A busy day with baby cuddles, a food shop, baking buns, playing in the garden on the new slide, video calls with the other grandchildren. This outfit was worn by my now 30 year old son when he was a baby.

Dog walk and prepped a lasagna for tea. Lots of baby cuddles. Collected eldest grandson from nursery then off for his jabs. He’s such a good boy, sadly he’s used to it from all the time he’s spent in hospital in his 3 years. Went to the outlaws (the other grandparents) to pick strawberries out their garden while they’re on holiday. Had dinner, a bike ride to the shops. Out in the garden on the slide, lots of bedtime stories.

Eldest off to nursery wanted me to dress him. I walked the dog and helped with a few chores. DIL had dr appointment so I looked after the baby. Went shopping at a retail park and coffee. Collected eldest from nursery then into Lisburn for his hair cut. A picky tea as son was home late. Lots of bedtime stories and cuddles. Eldest helped with hoovering the van from all his snacks.

Heavy rain most of the day, we found a gap and went to the shops for ice cream, ride the bike and a play in the park. This swing was fab, but I felt a little sick after a while. They had a plumber visit in the morning so I was on baby duties. Cooked a fakeaway for dinner and packed the car ready for my trip home. Grandson was upset and didn’t want me to go home on my own ‘it’s too far granny, I’ll come with you’ a bath before bed and lots and lots of stories read.

150 Watching granny sail away on a video call. Up early said my goodbyes and headed off to the port for my day time ferry crossing home. Grandson was really upset with me leaving, it made me cry also, will be a couple of months before our next visit. On the ferry at 11am, always last on in the van. Found a sofa in the lounge and had a lie down and a nap. Woke around 2pm and had some lunch and did some blogging and reading.

151 A lie in some washing done and bags unpacked then off to visit child 2 and family and a meal out for DILs birthday. We stopped in Monmouth for a coffee and a walk round.

A lazy morning. Into town for a coffee and a bit of gluten free shopping. Rest of the day in the garden, weeding and planting out chilli’s, beans and tomatoes. Several series to watch on tv in the evening, starting with Clarkson’s Farm.

Things to make you smile:
I've been wearing my hair down, it's just passed my shoulders. I came downstairs and my grandson exclaimed 'what are you wearing Granny?' Jeans and a jumper that he's seen me wear many times. He then ordered I tie my hair up and said 'now you look like my Granny'

Things that made me happy:
Grandchildren.

  1. What a wonderful week you have had visiting the grandchildren. It's so lovely that your newest grandson can wear his dad's old outfit, he's a vintage baby.
I'm glad your grandson got to facetime and wave you off on the ferry, it sounds like an emotional farewell.
I hope you've had a lovely relaxing weekend after such a busy week.

  2. Crikey, a busy week, but nice to have so much time with different grandchildren and family. We've had Clarkson's farm on too - and N keeps spotting different places from the series (including the Coach & horses pub he didn't buy) we go past.

  3. Aww! How lovely to spend time with the grandkids. The eldest one sounds like such a sweetheart and baby cuddles are the best! It sounds like a really good week!
