Word of the Week - Bump

I've had a few BUMPS this weeks.

BUMP - Woke up to an empty house after child 4, his wife and our two grandsons went home on Monday afternoon after a fun packed weekend of baking, bath times, cuddles, elf on the shelf, mess and laughter.

BUMP - There was no chocolate in the house.

BUMP - The side effects of my medication have kicked in. Pins and needles in my hands and feet and chest, almost none stop. it'll settle but having reached maximum dose after restarting the meds 2 months ago, I've been expecting this. I've had a med review on Monday, it's the norm, it's just irritating.

BUMP - I've fallen behind with my target to read 52 books this year. I've got 9 to go. I've come to a stand still, convinced I can't do it, talked myself out of it.

BUMP - We haven't planned our Christmas dinner food shop. I'm not panicking - you're panicking. We've got a joint of beef in the freezer, but nothing else, not even a tub of chocolates (see above)

BUMP - It's been too cold to run. I've fallen behind with my training schedule. I've got a parkrun this Saturday. I should be on schedule for a 10k. I'm currently just about running 5k, but I have been going to the gym and working on my strength.

Bump - I've been quite teary this week and feeling low, but probably because I've had so many BUMPS.
It's hardly surprising.

There's also been so many lovely things going on. Our grandchildren came to visit. I've been enjoying my sweet filled advent calendar, I've read 43 books this year, I'm not stressed over Christmas, I can run 5k, I couldn't run at all back in October less than 3 months ago. It's not all bad.

  1. Oh no to the bumps! Having no chocolate in the house is terrible and I hope the side effects ease off a bit soon. Good luck with the reading and I am sure everything will come right by Christmas with the food.

  2. I like the way you turned the perspective around on everything at the end of your post. There will always be bumps to contend with but in the end it's not all bad like you say.
I had to stop with the reading challenges and such like as I'm trying to recover from perfectionism and it was'nt helpful. As long as you have enjoyed what you have been reading this year then that's a great achievement.
Wishing you a gentle and peaceful Christmas x

    1. I got through 47 books in the end and was happy with that. I'm still behind with my running but I'm not stressing, if I have to walk the marathon then so be it.

  4. I'm sorry you've had so many bumps. We realised last night that we had no chocolate, I did manage the shopping but didn't buy chocolate because we have loads for Christmas, but that means going 4 days without! I'm in a reading rut too, I just keep falling asleep. But I'm glad you can count the positives too. I'm sure things will pick up again. Merry Christmas and thanks for linking up to Word of the Week

  5. Well done on your running! That is impressive in just three months. You've had a few bumps. I hope they are the last for awhile. For once I'm ahead on the Christmas shopping and freezer is full too, but there is bound to be something I've forgotten. Hope you finish your book target and enjoy them.

  6. I can imagine this time of year is full of bumps with living with grief and all the other things going on at this time of year. I hope the side effects from your medication settle quickly and you get your Christmas food shop sorted with minimal stress. 43 books this year is good going especially with everything else you’ve had going on and being able to run 5k is a real achievement. I hope that the Christmas period will be as gentle with you as possible and you are able to find moments of joy. Sending lots of love to you and your family x
