Week 11 2021 - Gardening, iron infusions and dog walks.

During the 3 lockdowns I've stuck by the rules/laws. I haven't visited anyone and I haven't driven outside my area to go for a walk or to go shopping. I've taken the lockdowns very seriously and apart from dog walking daily and on occasion with a friend, I've only gone out for essential trips such as food shopping and medical appointments.

I'm just hanging around again, waiting for the next bit that's out of my control. Waiting for the dog to be collected so I can then book a flight back to Dubai. I can't get on with the garden as I won't be here for 2-3 months so no point planting anything and the lawn will need mowing, the house will need cleaning also, when I get back to it. Then I'll be job hunting, we'll be back to some kind of normal, yet it won't be my normal, as my normal is not normal after 10 years as an expat.

Just something else I'll have to adapt to. You all know what your normal was in the UK prior to the pandemic, I wasn't living in the UK prior to the pandemic.

72 Saturday Took Bob for a walk through the woods and collected a take out coffee at the retail park, it was absolutely packed with families shopping in the limited stores open. Walked back home over the common. Did some gardening and was struggling with my back with the digging and moving soil, so went out to local builders merchants to buy a wheelbarrow and some new garden tools. Spent some time blogging and filled in holes/dents in the plaster/walls ready for painting.

Not bad, 3 out of 5 kids remembered.

73 Sunday A 2 hour dog walk through town, over the common and home, followed by beer and chocolate and a home cooked roast beef dinner. I watched a couple of movies and had a nice relaxing bath with my bath bombs for Mother's Day. I watched Grace, OMG my anxiety levels.

74 Monday Dog walk, gardening and off to the hospital at 5pm for the 2nd iron infusion, I took writing material with me, grabbed a coffee from the foyer on my way to the ward and picked up a McDonalds on the way home (swopped the bun for a gluten free one) and off to bed by 8pm.

75 Tuesday After a sleep of 8 hours, I went back to sleep for a further 6 hours, then at 3pm I dressed and spent 3 hours in the garden, digging, planting, tidying. Sanded down the paintwork. Walked Bob, had a bath and evening spent in front of the TV.

76 Wednesday Awake at 2am, stayed in bed till midday with the cat for company, dressed and painted some rocks, touched up paint on woodwork and walls throughout the house, did some washing, got outside and did some more gardening, cooked for tonight and soup for tomorrow. Laminated labels for the seeds and evening spent on a video call with a friend.

My shed. Can't wait for the garden furniture to arrive as it can stay outside in all weather and I'll be able to get rid of these red chairs, taking up space.

77 Thursday Another lazy morning, looks cold outside, did some blogging and watched some TV from last night. Walked Bob down to the retail park, posting letters and getting a click and collect coffee. I started the cleaning throughout, so many cobwebs in the rooms I'm not using.

78 Friday Osteopath appointment at 8.30am, then home, walked Bob, painted rocks, cooked, did some cleaning, sorted through some accounts changing passwords and email/phone numbers. Long chat with a friend and bed.

  1. Good on you sticking to the lockdown rules. We have stuck to them too. Even when my dad was seriously ill with Covid I didn't go an see him as much as I wanted to. It annoys me how people break the rules so much. Lockdown is over according to one of my neighbours. There was about 12 kids in their garden and about 6 other adults in and out of their house today. Grr!
It sounds like you had a lovely Mother's day. I'm glad most of your kids remembered.
I hope the iron infusion has helped.
Those rocks are so cute. x

  2. We've stuck to the rules too. Thankfully we're nowhere near people to see what they're up to with breaking rules. I expect there are more than 2 people meeting up in the park like they were earlier in the year too. Ooh I've not had a McDonalds for ages either. Nice treat. Hope the iron infusion made you felt a bit better.

  4. We've stuck to the lockdown rules as well. we've just been working, homeschooling and doing the same dreary dog walk day in and out. We have had a takeaway Mcdonalds delivered as a treat for the kids though :)

    1. thankfully I've got some lovely options for dog walking around me, but there are only so many times I can actually do them without being bored

  5. I've stuck to the lockdown rules most of the time, except that I went grocery shopping pretty often. We couldn't get any slot for online shopping, and as I don't drive and have to carry everything on me like a donkey, there is a limit to how much I can carry to feed a family of four. Everything else I did. Your painted rocks are very jolly. Hope the iron infusion helped. Lovely to get Mother's day cards and gifts.

  6. We’ve been taking lockdown seriously here too. I can imagine that adjustment to ‘normal’ is different for you having been an ex-pat for so long. Hope that you can get back to Dubai soon. Looks like you’ve had some lovely walks with Bob this week. Hope the iron infusion has helped you feel better too. #project365

  7. Our neighbours went away again at the weekend, the rules only apply to our part of the road apparently. Looks like you got some nice Mother's Day treats there. Love your rocks, we've not looked for any for ages. Hope you can fix your Dubai dates soon #365

  10. We have also stuck to the rules but there are so many that haven't like the travel bloggers in Mexico at the moment. It really flipping annoys me having done the right thing and turned down foreign press trips. After all its illegal. But I doubt they will get into any trouble mores the shame. Hoped the iron infusion has helped?

  11. We have stuck to the lockdown rules to with the exception of taking Ethan to see the sea. It is in our same postcode area but have to go in the car. I always take his paperwork with us to show if it is needed. Love your Mother's Day gifts I love how you state which children remembered lol. It must be weird getting used to different daily routines in different countries. I would love to move to Canada but I'm not brave enough to make the jump #365

  13. 14 hours combined total sleep you must have needed that! It's all the fresh air on your walks perhaps or the effects of the iron infusion? I hope you felt refreshed after it. I quite like your red chairs, but I can see why you will enjoy the extra space in your shed. We don't have a shed, I would love one to put the bikes and things like that in.

  14. I sleep for ages randomly, then other times only 4-5 hours. I do like the red chairs, but they were only bought to fill the gap
