One daily Positive - Week 27

Reply from Social Services, basically saying nothing. Although it's been agreed all medical appointments will take place in daughters care home from now it doesn't resolve the issues of lack of communication. SS agreed that the home should've involved us in the risk assessment for the other resident going out with her father during lockdown and they don't feel an advocate is necessary as we get things sorted anyway (after the event) Daughters care plan had been completed and SS hadn't deemed it necessary to send us a copy, but if we gave them our address they'd pop one in the post. FFS, not contacting us, involving us in decision making etc is what leads us into this mess every bloody 2 years.

I've not done much the last 2 weeks since mum moved in with me, my routine has gone to pot with meal times, sleeping, exercise and eating. My mum is with me to have some outdoor space, a bit of company, meals cooked for and a change of scenery, I don't need to entertain her or be around every minute of the day. So I've started writing lists again of things to do again and planning my week rather than letting it happen. Crochet is still on the list.

180 Sunday Changed and washed the bedding, mowed the lawn and tidied away, cooked a roast dinner and started the process of typing up 1000's of kids name on a website for the Christmas Gift giving in South Africa. Caught up with blog posts/comments, prepared the information I need for my DBS check and paid some bills. Took Bob for a long walk in the afternoon/early evening. Had my weekly GIN video call with a friend.
Home grown peas

181 Monday Registered with the local GP, sorted more paperwork. I had a call with a woman who found me online about moving to Dubai later this year, I'll be putting together a check list of things we talked about, that I'll write up into a blog post also. Bob was really stressed on his walk this evening, I think it was weather related.
The one that's in always wants to be out and the one that is out always wants to be in.

182 Tuesday Been feeling a bit under the weather with head and body aches but realised this is due to being out of my routine with my eating, sleeping and exercise since my mum moved in with me. So I took myself and Bob out the house for the morning walking around the town and the base of the hills. The afternoon and evening was spent paying bills, online food shop, uploading name lists and completing a DBS check to work as a volunteer for the local council. I finally took everything that's been sitting on the stairs to the top floor up and put it all away.
A birthday gift canvas from my niece of the The Things

183 Wednesday Off to Cirencester to visit child 5 at last. Stopped off at the Lavender fields, a slight detour, but well worth it, we got absolutely drenched. Took Bob with me as usual, if I'm not welcome with my dog, then I just go somewhere else. Created a bubble at last with child 5, took him to KFC drive through for his belated 21st birthday meal, cleaned his flat while he walked Bob and took his washing home to return next week.
Unless it's a wedding, we're still not allowed to post photos of child 5 online, he does allow me to take ONE photo he is in for the album.

184 Thursday Food shop day. Posted parcels to The Things, Child 4 and a friend, finally took the old bath panel to the tip, called in at B&M to fulfil my mums shopping list then a click and collect from Sainsbury's. Washed and put away the fridge and freezer stuff, lay down for an hour before doing the rest, cooked dinner, walked Bob and loaded more names on the data base.

185 Friday I started preparing the next lot of birthday and care parcels together. I also altered one curtain by adding curtain header in an attempt to block out the light completely in my bedroom. It was a fail, although the curtain is thicker, it still lets in too much light. Debbie came round with chips and I supplied the wine.

186 Saturday Morning spent loading name lists, then long term friends of mine and Peter's popped round to join me and Bob for a walk, up the hills and around the outskirts of town. We then sat in the garden for a drink and natter. I served dinner from the slow cooker and spent the evening lying down and blogging.
Peter and I have both known Simon longer than we've known each other.

  1. Ugh! The reply from social services sounds so frustrating. It sounds like they've really let you down and kept you so far out of the loop.
That's good you've registered with a local GP.
I love the pic of the things. hehehe How cute.
How lovely to see your friends. x

  2. I'd forgotten all about the lavender fields until I saw it in a post of yours. It's just over 30 mins from me, so might see if I can get there before it shuts. How frustrating about the care home/social services. They never like to put themselves on the line in my limited experience.

    1. I'll be going back to the lavender fields before they close on the 26th

  3. The curtain issue is one that I've battled with too. I guess a pelmet or a baton across the top of the window might help, but that would impact on the look. I use a blackout blind and blackout curtains together at night - it helps, but there is still a gap at the top.
Annoying about Social Services - perhaps now you are on the doorstep you can lick them into shape.

    1. I took the pelmet down as I didn't like the look of it, when Peter gets over he can put a pole up for me and that'll solve the issue

  4. What a lovely photo with your friends. It sounds like you've got a good compromise with your mum - a bit of company for both of you, but you can still do your own thing. It must have been nice to see Child 5 again. I absolutely love the Things canvas. What a thoughtful present.

  5. How annoying about the social services not keeping you in the know and not sending the paperwork. Glad to hear you've registered with the GP. No advice on the curtains, unless maybe a blackout blinds underneath? Lovely that you were able to see your friends, and I imagine having your Mum around is great, even if your routine is changed. Hope to see you tomorrow!

  6. sounds like you are being an amazing daughter, and I like the compromise of a bit for you and a bit from her. I have got selfish, I like my routine ( such as it is) and to do what I want when I want.
I do not have any life long friends as I moved to much.

  7. Sorry to hear that the reply from Social Services was so frustrating and that you were feeling under the weather. Hope that getting back into routine has helped. Lovely to have some home-grown peas with your roast dinner. I love that canvas from your niece and how nice to catch up with some friends. #project366

  8. I've never been to a lavender field, I bet they smell amazing. They look lovey. How frustrating about the care home/social services. x

  9. We all need a friend like Debbie who brings round chippy chips! :)
It must be fab having your mum there for company but I'm with you on being out of kilter - it really does send your body into a tizz!
The Lavender Fields looked amazing in your other post, such a treat, shame you couldn't smell it all though, bet it was gorgeous! Poor Bob... our dog was the same... hated going out at night and hated the rain, you should have seen the looks she used to give me as I tried to coax her out! ;) Hope you are well and having a good week... and that you enjoyed your time with No.5! Love the fact he gets out of cleaning by taking the dog on a walk! Crafty! Sim x

    1. Bob doesn't mind the rain if we're walking but otherwise he sulks as it's too wet to just sit outside

  10. I'm just shaking my head at Social Services - I can't believe they seem to think it's "normal" for you to be kept out of the loop. Glad to hear things are going well with your mum, even if it's thrown you out of routine. Hope that settles down soon. Lovely to be able to catch up with friends and family - especially if they bring chips ! Love the artwork of The Things - very cute !

  11. That looks like a lovely roast! Bet your mum is loving the TLC. So glad you got sorted with the local GP. Hope your routine gets settled so you know where you are again. But you still sound like your keeping very busy. Hope your son enjoyed his birthday KFC.

  12. I love that Thing picture, so creative. Bet your mum loves having some company again, must be nice for you too, although your routine has been affected. We have a black out blind in our room, its the only thing that keeps the light out

  14. Very irresponsible of the Social Services. The meal looks delicious. The birthday canvas looks cute. True, one is restricted when their dog doesn't want to go somewhere or isn't allowed. My room curtain is also letting too much light in. Might get it changed. Awww I hope you had a great time meeting old friends.

  15. I am disappointed with the view social services has taken it must be very frustrating for you all. We headed to some lavender fields on Friday and they were not a vibrant as they usually were which was also disappointing. Sounds like you had a busy week with lots of fun too though nice to catch up with friends. Hope you get to the bottom of the name list soon.

    1. Name lists all done now, just got to persuade people to donate next. I'm glad I visited the Lavender Fields in the rain, looked much more vibrant against the dark skies
