Only 2 trips away in July. A night in Trellech just outside Monmouth and two nights in Lydney.
The first trip was because we wanted to visit friends and family in Newport for the day. Only an hour and 10 mins each way, but spending a couple of hours with friends, then with a 90 mins spare after a 30 min journey to the see family for a couple of hours, we decided to pick a camp site for the night so we could catch up with another friend in the morning on our way home rather than rushing the day and getting home late.
We stopped in Trellech at a camp site at the end of a very narrow lane. It was lovely and peaceful and only one of a few places that allowed us to just book for the Saturday night. Most campsites require 2 nights minimum during the summer, especially over a weekend.
There was no drive over pit though for grey water, so we had to drive home with that and empty when we got home.
The second trip was to Lydney. I stayed there for a night in June. Peter joined me for this trip and we've now added a drive away awning to give us that extra bit of space if we're away for more than one night.
You really are finding some great places to park up the van. Trellech looks beautiful and at least you got to try your toilet in the van out. x
ReplyDeletehopefully we can avoid using it again
DeleteI love your travelling posts, I feel like I'm living my dream through you. I have booked a holiday in a static caravan for next year though, with sea views. I'm already looking forward to it and it's a whole years wait.
ReplyDeleteI used to love static caravan holidays. My grandson is in one at the moment with our son and DIL, I had a video call with them, he loves it up there
DeleteLooks a great spot - and phew to having exceptional facilities #PoCoLo
ReplyDeleteNow we've sussed out how the chemical loo works we're not so worried about where we go camping now
