Dachau Concentration Camp - Munich

I've been to Germany several times and the holocaust memorial in Berlin, but I'd never been to a concentration camp, I didn't want to. I didn't need to be there to know what when on during the 2nd World War. I'd learnt about it in school and it doesn't appear that many lessons were learnt from the killing of innocent people before my life began, when you think of all the current atrocities that have been going since since then.

But I'm glad I made the visit, I found it very emotional. It helped me to understand the history I'd learnt at school. I won't go into my views or the history of it. I'll just leave you to look at the photographs and draw your own conclusions.

All I will say is a visit sure does make it clear the scale of what went on.

  1. We were here 9 years ago when Master EE was a little baby. We had meant to stay in Munich for two days, camping at the Dachau camp ground (doesn't that sound chilling). After our visit there we just packed up and left, we could not stay, we could not even bear to eat or give Master EE his bottle until we were a long, long way away.

  2. Sends chills down my spine. And especially because I was watching a series on CN.N this week about survivors and one of the people was a lady who survive the holocaust and she said there are people who believe the event isn't real and it is all just made up :( :(
