Week 40 - One Daily Positive and Project 366

I ended the week in bed with the flu, I also lost my voice. I had a real proper invite to go out Thursday evening, but ended up cancelling after leaving work early as I was too unwell. It was Peter's birthday, one card arrived on time and that was it, no phone calls and a handful of Facebook messages.

I'm really NOT going to bother now with ensuring cards and gifts reach people on time. I've also been so busy the past few weeks with work that I've been rather lax on contacting family and friends, but too be honest it's not like I've had a string of messages and missed calls I've needed to reply to. I wrote a few letters over the weekend, where I knew I owed a reply.

No one seems to have missed us, so I guess I don't have to miss them anymore. Yes I know EVERYONE is super busy these days, time passes you all by, but guess what? the same happens here and I'm just not going to put myself out any more.

Sunday Day 276 Sleepy. Woken by the cat at 5.30am who wanted to play, it was the Islamic New Year and a public holiday.

Monday Day 277 Doors. Once excited dog chewing on his bone outside.

Tuesday Day 278 Selfie. After being out for 13+ hours at work. Leaving and returning home in the dark.

Wednesday Day 279 Cake. Really not well enough to be baking for Peter's birthday tomorrow.

Thursday Day 280 Cuddles. Left work early, lost my voice and spent the day in bed.

Friday Day 281 Park. Safa Park 3kms up the road, being remodelled while the RTA dig a 6 meter deep canal, connecting the Creek to the sea in Jumeriah.

Saturday Day 282 My Town. Crossing over one of the 3 new bridges, built to accommodate the canal, which will be filled with water in November.

  1. I can totally relate with the 'not putting yourself out there' anymore. As you say everyone is busy...but if you really want to make an effort you do. Hope you are feeling better now

    1. I'm now only writing letters to those who either a) write back b) message me when a letter arrives or c) just make random contact for no reason

  2. Sorry you've been unwell and sorry people aren't making an effort to get in touch any more. I do dislike it when people can't manage to get a birthday card there on time. Great photos of Dubai here. It looks like the canal is going to be huge!

    1. I underestimated the size of the canal project, i can no longer access some of the places i was taking photos from due to those places now being the canal

  3. Oh no I am so sorry you have been ill . Your gorgeous cat is there to help you feel better at least. I know I am guilty at being late with cards sometimes, but I will at least message the person and apologise in a advance. Everything in Dubai is on such a big scale, that canal is going to be massive isn't it? xx

  4. Oh dear at not feeling well, hope the antibiotics do some good. The best rest will.
That is an early rising cat.
I agree with contacting people who don't bother back.
How interesting to follow the canal being built and filled.

  5. Shame on the post. In this day and age of internet there's no excuse for not sending a message at least. Hope you're better now.

  6. I think we're all probably guilty of not keeping in touch as much as we should. I know I'm terrible these days, but totally unintentionally. Your Dubai photos always make me marvel at just how much the city has changed. Hope you are feeling better now xx #366

  7. I think keeping in touch is a tough thing at times, we are all busy, but it doesn't take a lot to make an effort. Having said that, I've been terrible about birthday cards since we moved to the US, but the fact that no one sends us them either has made me feel less guilty...! Always love seeing the photos of the Dubai skyline. Hope you're feeling better x

    1. feeling a little better and back to work today, it is sad that communication is dwindling, people seem to think a 'like' on fb is enough these days
