Week 41 - Project 365

I was off to a bad start with October with the photo prompts from Britmums being 2 days late, so I decided to omit them from the photos for the month, then I realised I wouldn't then achieve my self imposed challenge, so I edited the text for the first 3 days then picked up from day 4 and carried on as before.

Sunday happened here with quite a bit of confusion and ended with hubby arriving home later than planned so I baked a cake for his birthday and carved a Pomelo, as I couldn't find a Pumpkin.

Day 277 #onedailypositive #tradition #fmsphotoaday #GoStandThere #snaphappybritmums #project365 living in Dubai we don't really have seasons and for Halloween I will be in South Africa, where it will be spring. It has been a tradition of mine to decorate the house for autumn and Halloween for many years and just because the kids have left home there's no reason why I shouldn't carry on with it.

Monday continued with the confusion which I'll tell you about when I've reached a decision, or one is made for me. My flight to South Africa is now booked and case half packed. It was coffee morning at the Arabian Centre, a secret visit in the afternoon and then home to wait and make decisions. Todays blog is 'Don't just blog it, do it'

Day 278 #onedailypositive #AIsFor #fmsphotoaday #Landscape #snaphappybritmums #project365 An Aerial shot of Dubai, taken earlier this year from the Burj Khalifa

Tuesday was hubbies birthday, it involved presents, cards, banners and balloons, we had planned to go out in the evening but it was too hot, so instead I cooked a cottage pie as we only had mince in the freezer, but I nearly expired stood in front of a hot oven making it. There was also cake, hubby isn't a big fan of cake so he blew the candles out in the morning and took it into work with him. I had another visit to the secret place and all will be revealed when I get the confirmation email. For Animal Tales we took our 4 year old niece to the farm at child 5 of 5 school on our visit to the UK last month.

Wednesday just happened, the humidity has risen again, so it's 10c hotter than the thermometer reads. I went in the kitchen to make a cup of tea and before I knew it, it was 10am and I'd made tonights and tomorrows dinner, put the wash on, sorted the recycling and swept and mopped the kitchen floor. I had UK paperwork for school and banks to sort and come mid afternoon I decided to catch a bus to the creek, walk around the souks and have lunch. I blogged about the reality of living in South Africa. and on my way home I did the food shop hubby picked me up.

Thursday and yet another coffee morning, I'm getting used to this, but I am going to have to stop eating cake. For this weeks Time Traveller I blogged about my solo trip around Yorkshire last month.

Back into the Friday routine and into the desert with Bob to the lakes. While I gave Bob a bath, hubby made breakfast, then we went out to collect my air ticket to South Africa next week, show hubby where the kennels and cattery are as he may need to use them while I'm away for 5 weeks. How does your garden grow this week had me making a scrap book/mood board/idea gathering for when I return from my next trip.

Day 282 #onedailypositive #Eisfor #fmsphotoaday ##candle Endless Powercuts in South Africa

Saturday is our Sunday and a day of nothing but rest, afternoon naps, tv and junk food, but today we caught a bus to Al Ghubaiba to the Souks and to explore further a field. Hubby hasn't explored this area of Dubai yet. We then caught a ferry to Dubai Marina and had a late lunch/early dinner (is there a word for that?....Tea?) in the Marina Mall, before heading home on the tram, train, bus and a short walk for a night in front of the TV.

Day 283 #onedailypositive #Fisfor #fmsphotoaday #WinterVegetable #snaphappybritmums #project365 there are 2 things I can't buy in Dubai, cubes of jelly in a packet and a pumpkin. I wanted/needed both for my photo prompts this month to join in with the festivities.

  1. Your 'pumpkin' carving is fantastic. It's good that you keep up these traditions even though you don't have an autumn. Happy birthday to hubby and sorry to hear the humidity has got so awful again. Bet you can't wait to get to South Africa!

  2. Happy belated birthday to your husband! The carved witch is fabulous! It's lovely to keep the traditions going. The cat looks so non-plussed and superior, just like cats do. :)
